As a seller, you may be required to apply taxes to your sales and subsequently report and remit those taxes to your government. Some may need to apply discounts to align with the government-mandated benefits. While these vary from every country, Cococart enables you to automatically manage your tax and feed calculations.

Here's how you can enable the feature:

1. Go to the Payments Page.

2. Scroll down to the bottom of the page where you can see Fees and Tax.

3. You can choose to apply Tax or Charge only or both. You just need to move the toggle to the right to enable them.

a.  How to apply Tax

  1. Enter the Tax name

  2. Apply the percentage

  3. Enter your Tax Registration number if you want it to appear on the receipts.

  4. Choose whether to include the taxes from the product price or not.

If you choose to include it in the item price, you will not see any additional amount added to the total upon checkout.

Here's what it would look like on the order page if you include the tax in the item price:

b. How to add Charges

This applies to additional fees that you wish to apply in the order. You just need to move the toggle to the right to enable, name it then add the percentage you want to impose.

🚨 A few reminders:

Merchants are responsible for filing their taxes and ensuring compliance with their government's tax laws and regulations.

It is always advisable to inform your customers ahead if you have additional fees or taxes to apply to their orders. We recommend that you put the reminder in your FAQs or just have it appear before checkout by customizing your order form.
